RHEOLOGY ADDITIVES
CLAYTONE-HY-Rheology additive based on an organophilic phyllosilicate for solvent-borne systems and powder coatings.
Application: CLAYTONE-HY is a rheology additive used to increase the melt viscosity in powder coatings. Even at low dosages, the melt viscosity during extrusion and crosslinking reaction is increased. The resulting coating exhibits a low surface structure. At higher dosages, this leads to the development of a fine structure and a reduction in gloss. CLAYTONE-HY can be used to modify the surface structure in fine-textured systems. The increased melt viscosity improves edge coverage, which leads to better corrosion resistance.
CLAYTONE-APA-Rheology additive in powder form based on an organophilic phyllosilicate for polar to medium-polar systems to generate thixotropic flow behavior.
Application: Due to its special organic modification, CLAYTONE-APA is ideally suited for influencing the flow behavior of polar- to medium-polar coating systems. Using the additive produces thixotropic flow behavior, and therefore results in significant improvements to the anti-sagging properties while at the same time maintaining good leveling. This also optimizes storage stability, and prevents pigments and fillers from settling.
CLAYTONE AF– Rheology additive in powder form based on an organophilic phyllosilicate for non-polar to medium-polarity systems to generate thixotropic flow behavior.
Application: CLAYTONE AF is an organophilic bentonite derivative which is used as thixotropic thickener and anti-settling agent in solvent based coating systems of low to medium polarity. CLAYTONE AF is easy to disperse and self-activating.As specially activated, organophilic smectite product, CLAYTONE AF can swell in organic media and build a gel structure (card-house structure). Weak hydrogen bonding between the single smectite platelets is the reason for this thixotropic gel structure. Therefore, the complete separation of the platelets (complete dispersion of agglomerates into primary particles) is necessary for optimum efficiency
OPTIGEL-WX– Rheology additive based on an activated phyllosilicate for aqueous systems and mineral pre-mix mortars to generate thixotropic flow behavior.
Application:OPTIGEL-WX generates thixotropic flow behavior. It improves processability and storage stability as it is highly effective at preventing solids settling. In addition, it reduces the sagging tendency after application which makes it possible to achieve greater layer thicknesses. OPTIGEL-WX is inorganic and stable to diluted acids and bases.
OPTIGEL-WM– Rheology additive based on an activated phyllosilicate for aqueous systems to generate thixotropic flow behavior.
Application: OPTIGEL-WM generates thixotropic flow behavior. It improves processability and storage stability as it is highly effective at preventing solids settling. In addition, it reduces the sagging tendency after application which makes it possible to achieve greater layer thicknesses.
OPTIBENT-6042– Powdered rheology additive based on an organically modified phyllosilicate for aqueous, hydraulically hardening construction systems.
Application:As a result of its extremely thixotropic properties, OPTIBENT-6042 develops high anti-sagging properties whilst retaining good processing properties and improved open times, even with greatly increased levels of water. Consequently, OPTIBENT-6042 makes it possible to increase the water required in mineral binder systems and improves the processing consistency without impairing the hydration properties of the binder system. The product is shear stable and compatible with a variety of cementitious binders.
LAPONITE-RDS– Rheology additive based on synthetic phyllosilicate for aqueous systems to improve the rheological properties in the low shear range.
Application: LAPONITE-RDS increases viscosity in the low shear range with a low impact in the high shear range. It improves processability and storage stability. Due to its high bulk density, it is easy to handle and is not sensitive to shear forces
RHEOBYK-410– Liquid rheology additive for medium-polarity solvent-borne and solvent-free coating systems as well as PVC plastisols and ambient-curing resin systems. The additive creates highly thixotropic flow behavior and consequently improves the anti-sagging and anti-settling properties. Post-addition is possible.
Application: After being stirred into the coating system, the additive generates a three-dimensional network structure. The resulting thixotropic flow behavior is highly suited for preventing sedimentation and increasing the anti-sagging properties without impairing leveling
RHEOBYK-420– Liquid rheology additive for aqueous and water-reducible coating systems for improving anti sagging and anti-settling properties. The additive is also especially suited for manufacturing aqueous pigment concentrates. RHEOBYK-420 causes thixotropic flow behavior; post-addition is possible.
Application: After being stirred into the coating system, the additive generates a three-dimensional network structure. The resulting thixotropic flow behavior is highly suited for preventing sedimentation and syneresis and increasing the anti-sagging properties without impairing leveling. The additive is liquid and therefore easy to handle. It is not necessary to specifically adjust the pH value or control the temperature during incorporation.
