PLASTIC
ADDITIVES
BYK P 4100 – Processing additive for filled, thermoplastic compounds as well as for PVC plastisols
and PVC calender applications.
Application: BYK-P 4100 is a surface-active processing additive for use in filled, thermoplastic compounds. During compounding, the additive reduces the required torque. The output capacity and the melt volume rate (MVR) are increased. The tensile strength, E-modulus and notch impact strength are increased in the finished part. The printability is improved.
DISPERPLAST-1148 – Wetting and dispersing additive for PVC plastisols for a better incorporation of inorganic pigments and fillers. Increases the color strength, minimizes settling and prevents the separation of the plasticizer.
Application: DISPERPLAST-1148 reduces the viscosity of pigmented and filled PVC plastisols. It is particularly recommended for inorganic fillers, zinc oxide and blowing agents (azodicarbonamide). The product enables a greater solids content, improves the color strength of the pigments and shortens the dispersion time. It also prevents any separation of the plasticizer. The tendency to settle is reduced.
BYK 9076 – Solvent-free wetting and dispersing additive for solvent-borne and solvent-free coatings,
adhesives, PVC plastisols, ambient curing resin systems, and for the production of color
masterbatches for thermoplastics. Particularly recommended for carbon black pigments.
Prevents separation and improves the fiber wetting in SMC/BMC formulations.
Application: BYK-9076 deflocculates pigments by means of steric stabilization. It also generates a uniform electrical charge in the pigment particles. The resulting repulsion effect and the steric stabilization prevent any coflocculation which leads to non-floating coloring in pigment blends. As a result of the small particle size of the deflocculated pigments, high levels of gloss can be achieved and the color strength is improved. In addition, the transparency is increased in transparent pigments and the hiding power in opaque pigments. The viscosity is reduced. In this way, the flow characteristics are also improved and a higher pigment load is possible.
BYK MAX CT 4260 – Phyllosilicate for use as a flame retardant synergist for halogen-free flame retardant thermoplastics as well as to improve the physical and barrier properties in thermoplastic
compounds.
Application: BYK-MAX CT 4260 is particularly suitable for halogen-free flame retardant thermoplastic compounds, as its addition improves the flame retardant properties as well as the dropping behavior and crust formation. BYK-MAX CT 4260 can reduce the filler content of, for example, aluminum or magnesium hydroxide. This improves process and physical properties, and reduces the overall weight. The barrier properties to oxygen, water vapor and hydrocarbons can be increased by using BYK-MAX CT 4260. In thermoplastics, such as polyamides (PA), and bioplastics such as polylactides (PLA), the melt viscosity is increased, enabling an improvement in the dimensional stability during profile extrusion.
SCONA TPPP 9112 GA – Coupling agent for polypropylene filler compounds and glass fiber compounds.
Application:SCONA TPPP 9112 GA is a highly effective coupling agent for PP compounds with glass fibers (short, long) and fillers (ATH, Mg(OH)2, CaCO3), even at low doses. It improves the mechanical properties and does not lead to discoloration in the compound.
SCONA 20097 – Coupling agent for filler and fiber-reinforced polypropylene composites to ensure super adhesion to the matrix. Compatibilizer for blends of polypropylene with polar polymers
to improve mechanical and optical properties.
Application: SCONA 20097 is a polymeric modifier based on polypropylene homopolymer functionalized with a high degree of maleic anhydride. It has excellent wetting properties because of its very low viscosity. The additive is an excellent compatibilizer for blends of polypropylene and polar polymers such as polyamides and ethylene vinyl alcohol and improves the dispersion of the polymer polar material. This results in better mechanical and optical properties of the compatibilized material. It also acts as an excellent coupling agent for short and long glass fiber-reinforced polyolefins and improves their physical, mechanical, and thermal properties
