Polymer Modified Bitumen Additive- SBS is a Styrene – Butadiene – Styrene (SBS) polymer additive that is most commonly used in mixtures. It is used as a modifying additive to improve the behavior of bituminous binders and mixtures.

HiperCell Cellulosic Fiber is a high performance cellulosic fiber that supports bitumen and increases stability in open and semi-open mixtures (such as SMA and porous asphalt). The bitumen percolation occurs as a problem during the stone mastic asphalt (SMA) applications because amount of bitumen is more. HiperCell Cellulosic Fiber blocks percolation and prevents desorption in the coating. It is also used for increasing mechanical strength of asphalt, reducing the peeling of bitumen from aggregate and adding other positive characteristics to the mixture.

The most commonly used additive in bitumen modification is styrene butadiene block copolymers (SB-BK). These elastomeric additives, some of which are also known as SBS, significantly improve the properties of bitumen when they are added to bitumen. As a result, the performance of the asphalt mixture roads constructed by using polymer modified bitumen (PmB) made based on this method against the following factors have been excellently improved in the course of time: – wheel marks (permanent deformation), – thermal cracking, – fatigue cracking, – their anti-aging performance has improved tremendously.

 In Turkey, more than two-thirds of the asphalt roads in the area of responsibility of the General Directorate of Highways, municipalities and special provincial administrations are surface treatments. Surface treatment is commonly preferred because it is a fast and cost-effective solution on the roads where traffic density is lower. It is also known that the average life of surface treatment roads in our country is very short. There are many factors that determine the useful life of surface treatment roads.
